Thursday, 11th September - Rapid City to Buffalo (268 miles)
Today we started heading west out of South Dakota and back into Wyoming. However, before we left South Dakota we visited one of the original old (late 1800s) cowboy towns - Deadwood:
The store facades in Main Street have been retained to, largely, evoke the days of the wild West (whisky, women and gambling).

On then for a 20 mile scenic drive through Spearfish Canyon including Bridal Veil Falls (complete with resident white goats):
Over the state line into Wyoming and a close encounter with a spectacular volcanic plug, Devil's Tower:
Continuing west along I90 for another 120 miles in a fairly bleak, featureless landscape to our overnight stop in Buffalo at the recently renovated Holiday Inn (very nice).
Looks amazing. Full on cowboys experience. Do you think it was a good way of life?
